History

Pittsboro Baptist Church was organized in 1833. The church was named Big White Lick Regular Means Baptist Church. It now goes by Pittsboro Baptist Church.
The first church house was built about a mile east of Pittsboro, where the cemetery is located on the south side of the highway. The present location out front by the sign had a meeting house built 1893 south of Pittsboro on Maple street. The new church building was built behind the meeting house on South Maple street. March 9, 2003 was the first service in the new building as it stands now.

The first pastor was called by the church in December of 1894. Elder William Benson was called to preach at that time.

What to Expect

Visiting a new church can be a daunting experience. We want to put you at ease. We hope that your first visit to Pittsboro Baptist Church will be enriching and enjoyable for your whole family.

Our services are centered around worshipping God. We believe it is important for families to worship God together. Because of this, we do not offer children’s church during our main worship service at 11:00 on Sundays. We do offer a nursery for young children ages 0-3. We encourage the children ages four and older to join their families during the service. We do have special Bible activity bulletins for these children every Sunday.

How Should I Dress?
There is no dress code for our guests or members. Our ministry leaders and many of our members dress in a more traditional, “Sunday dress”. Our goal is that you will feel welcomed and comfortable during your time at Pittsboro Baptist Church.

What About the Offering?
As our guest, we want you to feel no obligation to put anything in our offering plate. It is available for those who are regular attenders of our church and want to give to the ministry. Our service is our gift to you!
